Working with LeanDog
Inception
Our aim during an inception is to identify the driving factors behind the project, garner a solid understanding of the product or need, identify the size and composition of the team, and to produce a high-level plan for execution.
Chartering
Purpose: We establish the purpose, benefits, goals and metrics for the project.
Strategy: We discuss our overall strategy for execution including timelines and team composition.
Tactics: We lay out a plan for execution including roles, working agreements, our regular meetings, and intended cadence.
Discovery
Comprehension: We quickly and collaboratively improve our understanding of the product context and the solution we intend to deliver.
Creation: Artifacts of discovery include product goals and metrics, lightweight personas, a user story map, a release roadmap, and wireframes.
Planning
Refinement: We delve into those deliverable items that will comprise the next few weeks of work, discussing details of the design and acceptance criteria.
Commitment: We discuss the work before us and commit to the scope of work we intend to deliver during the next work cycle.
Development Cycle
We develop software in short and regular cycles. This approach allows you to see the product functioning as it is under development. You are better able to adapt your vision and we are better able to respond to those changing needs.
Plan & Design
What will we construct during this cycle?
What benefit will we derive from this effort?
Perform
We focus on rapid delivery of high quality product.
We will communicate progress daily.
Evaluate
Did we meet our commitment?
Is this a quality product?
Will we realize the desired benefit?
Is our process working effectively?
Join us on the boat
Our office is floating in downtown Cleveland right next to the U.S.S. Cod (a WWII Submarine), the Burke Lakefront Airport, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We are located on a converted steamship, the Keasarge, that was formerly known as Hornblowerʼs Barge and Grill. The restaurant setting remains and offers open spaces that are perfect for practicing Agile. Our location gives a great view of the skyline of the city we support.
The Dog is Otis, Jon Stahl's Bull Dog. Otis and his nephew Iggy can be found lounging around the boat on most days. When they feel like a little activity, Otis is an avid skateboarder and Iggy loves to surf. Yes, really, he loves the water and he loves to surf.
